About

My passion is art and design, it always has been. My brain is hardwired to notice everything visual: from an edgy new font to a new contemporary artist. This obsession is in my work as a designer and artist.

Born and bred in Melbourne, I made a ‘tree change’ to Daylesford in regional Victoria 24 years ago. I shifted my small design studio too, and it was the best decision I ever made. I grew, and so did my business!

For the past four years I have had a focus on my role as an online digital mentor. I craft online strategies to help individuals, business and not for profits speak to their audiences online. Everything from social assets & search engine marketing to brand development & web strategy. I also lecture part time at Collarts in the design department delivering Design Thinking & Web Development subjects.

I work with local & international clients within a broad range of industries. My key expertise is around destination marketing & health services plus art festivals and cultural events.

I run a contemporary art gallery in my home town of Hepburn called Radius Art Space. I also have a personal art practice which explores contemporary 'land art' with an environmental focus; creating stop motion animation and installations using bottle caps. My current focus is digital projection and installations.

My qualifications include a BA from RMIT University in Visual Communication and Diploma in Multi-media from Victoria University. I have teaching experience at University bachelor level and have trained adults and VCE students using Adobe Creative Suite, design theory and digital strategy.

STRATEGIC THINKING & LECTURES
I have lectured at University on topics ranging from design thinking for web & print to launching a design career. I also run web & brand strategy workshops for clients in a diverse range of industries.

COMMUNICATION DESIGN
I specialise in creating cutting edge design solutions for web and print projects. I love unearthing client problems and solving them with engaging unique designs.

LEADERSHIP
In 2015 I was a graduate of the Leaders Forum, Ballarat. It was an immense year of learning, growth and new experiences. The program gave me insights into my own leadership style, I learnt some great problem solving techniques plus I deepened my sense of community.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
I ensure all the projects I am involved run smoothly. I enjoy working with clients to ensure we meet all project budgets, timelines and goals.

At VUT I discovered the joys of multi-media and really honed my technical skills in all aspects of digital design. I learnt how to build web pages when HTML was in it's infancy. I discovered non-linear narratives and they joys of user experience & information architecture. I learnt that 3D animation was tricky and needed huge computing power! I found joy in using the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop & Indesign)... and made some funny movies when I look back on them.

I started the Leadership program without any preconceived ideas. I was simply open to fresh experiences, thoughts and people. As a result, it was a wonderful adventure of the new, moving me beyond my comfort zone many times.

I relished being exposed to such a broad range of ideas and angles of thought. Both presenters and participants pushed my ideas and beliefs. I am amazed how many times I formed an opinion only to have it challenged or changed by the group or speaker.

I have also gained a much deeper understanding of our political system and mechanisms of government. I realised in Canberra I was impressed with the people who had passion. They were alive, connected, and committed to their core purpose.

I believe a great leader is someone who can practice deep listing with confidence to change their mind, for the greater good. At the same time being able to stand by their convictions beyond the desire to please everyone.

This project, reflecting on the recovery process, is part of a celebration of the ending of the Hepburn Health Services’ Flood Recovery Strategy. Hepburn Health Services commissioned a short film based on audio interviews and stills photography, to celebrate and reflect stories of recovery, survival and experiences as told by eyewitnesses and those afflicted by the floods. The short will form a ‘digital keepsake’ for the community, and will be the key part of a micro website. We collaborated with Designscope on this project and still photography was produced by Tim Burder. Produced by Jary Nemo and Lucinda Horrocks. A Wind & Sky Production.
